Trump’s ‘Cruel Joke’ of a Budget Pays for Border Wall and Tax Giveaways for the Wealthy on the Backs of our Families
Washington, DC - In response to President Trump’s fiscal year 2021 budget, Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (CPC Center) Policy Director Alan Barber issued the following statement:
"President Trump's budget proposal is a cruel joke. How can he claim to be the President for the working class while taking an axe to funding for Medicare and Medicaid, schools, housing and the environment? President Trump wants to pay for tax cuts for the rich and giant corporations, his racist border border wall, and his penchant for endless war by disinvesting in our families. Not so fast. We call on Congress to resoundingly reject this morally bankrupt proposal."
The CPC Center organized progressive policy experts from across the movement to analyze the impact the budget will have on our families and communities. The analysis details a devastating budget that prioritizes corporate profits and militarization time and time again. The analysis is available below and can also be downloaded on the CPC Center website HERE.
