We are facing an environmental and climate crisis. Toxic contamination in our air, soil and water cause asthma, cancer, heart disease and even death. Poor people and communities of color bear the brunt of this deadly toxic exposure. Families are struggling to heat their homes and pay their water bills as giant energy companies rake in profits with dirty energy investments. Natural disasters, forest fires, extreme weather and floods are threatening communities across the country. Critical ecosystems are disappearing and scientists say we have less than a decade to take drastic action or generations will suffer from the worst impacts of climate change.
We need big, creative and transformative solutions that create good union green jobs, clean up toxic contamination, transition to clean energy and address environmental racism.
