Housing Justice

A person working for minimum wage cannot afford a two bedroom apartment anywhere in the country.  Millions of families live one flat tire or health emergency away from homelessness. Our public housing is crumbling after decades of disinvestment and big corporate landlords are driving up rents across the country.  Home ownership is one of the most crucial sources of wealth for middle class families, yet decades of racist housing policy have shut Black and Brown families out of home ownership.  

We need truly affordable housing for the millions of Americans experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. We need to strengthen tenants’ rights and make sure that communities are not forced from their homes because of gentrification.  We need to invest in equitable pathways to homeownership. Housing is a human right and we need big, structural changes to ensure that everyone has a home.
